Overcoming the Fear of Needles: It's Not as Scary as You Think
Have you ever wondered what it's like to try acupuncture but the needles kind of freak you out? Actually I bet you're thinking: "Can he just stop talking about it right now and leave me alone!".
I know, I know, it's not an easy topic to discuss. I'd love for you to give me a chance to explain what it's like so at least it will seem a little easier and less scary to try. Well, here it goes...
What's it like to be needled? — I have to say it's waaayyyyyy different than when you have to get blood work or get a shot at the doctors. The needles are super thin. They're so thin, that you barely feel them when they first go in. There is a secondary sensation that you feel but it's not pain and it is a sign to let you know that your body is responding to the treatment. The feeling confirms that a signal is going to the brain to promote healing. That feeling usually lasts for about 2 or 3 seconds and then goes away. Really, really it does.
Many athletes come in with some hesitation but leave feeling surprised at how mild the sensations are and how relaxing the experience actually ends up being. It's crazy but a ton of people actually fall asleep and take a nap for 20 to 30 minutes when being treated and wake up feeling super relaxed.
If you are still hesitating at the thought of it I've got another trick that can help. It involves strawberries and peaches. If you'd like to go this route first, come on in and I'll show you in a quick 15 min chat. It's a no pressure way to ease on in and you get the added sweetness of eating some fruit 🍓.
If you're at least a little curious now that makes me happy 😊. I'd love to take it to the next step and let you at least experience a taste of it or a strawberry. I'm happy to go through that process with you on a 15 min free consultation and talk about your condition, do a fruit demonstration, and if you build up the courage we can try a single "fill in the blank" (needle).
